In that capacity, he gained broad and practical experience in general corporate matters, with emphasis on the day-to-day management of legal issues from within a U. S. business organization, including employment law, regulatory and administrative compliance in a highly regulated industry (treatment, storage, disposal, and transportation of hazardous waste, environmental assessment, remediation and emergency response), risk management, and management of litigation. Mr. Wang was engaged for 8 years in Federal service (1980-1988), first with the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), United States Public Health Service (USPHS) and then with the Federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), United States Department of Labor (DOL). His employment in the federal government sector included work in industrial hygiene, engineering and control technology research, as well as, compliance inspection and enforcement of U. S. occupational safety & health laws and regulations. From 1977 to 1979, Mr. Wang was a research and development engineer in the International Division of the Procter & Gamble Company where he worked on new products for and in Japan and the Philippines. His technical experience at P & G includes laboratory research, pilot plant testing, and on-site start-up of full-scale processes of new products.
